We are pleased to announce that in May 2026, the jury of the Jerzy Konorski Team Award recognised an outstanding contribution to neuroscience by a team of BRAINCITY researchers. The award is presented annually on the initiative of the Polish Neuroscience Society (PTBUN) and the Committee on Neurobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, honouring the best neuroscience work carried out in Poland. The jury is composed of representatives of both bodies, elected by the PTBUN Board and the Presidium of the Committee on Neurobiology.
This year’s award was granted to the authors of the article Unattended working memory items are coded by persistent activity in human medial temporal lobe neurons (Paluch K, Magnuski M, Średniawa W, Ivanovski D, Rysz A, Służewska-Niedźwiedź M, Pasterski T, Fortuna W, Smarzewska K, Reinacher PC, Kaczor S, Tabakow P, Babu H, Kamiński J.), published in the prestigious journal Nature Human Behaviour (2025, doi: 10.1038/s41562-025-02235-0).
Among the awarded authors are members of the Laboratory of Neurophysiology of Mind – Katarzyna Paluch and Mikołaj Magnuski – working under the supervision of Jan Kamiński.
In the jury’s assessment, the work represents a significant breakthrough in understanding the neurophysiological mechanisms of working memory and constitutes an important contribution by BRAINCITY researchers to the global field of neuroscience.
We warmly congratulate the award recipients!
